My First Time in Seattle

November 12, 2019 by Nile Leave a Comment

I travel a lot, but it was WordCamp Seattle, that brought me to Seattle. I’ve been trying to experience each city a little more than just going to a conference.

For a November, Seattle weather was amazing. Sure there was some rain, but when it didn’t rain, the weather was beautiful. In fact, it was oddly better off than back home, in the St. Louis area.

Marijuana

Well, I had forgotten that weed was legal in Washington, so when I was walking around Belltown, the air smelled of what I would call happiness. Okay, there was weed wafting around, and people were pleasant.

Hard Rock Cafe

I collect Hard Rock Cafe pint glasses, so I was really happy that Seattle had one. The cool thing about the souvenir glasses, is that you pay $14.95, plus tax for the cup, and if you stay for a little bit, you can have 1 drink included. I usually like their fruity drinks. I know some people don’t like them, because they’re so sweet, but I’m a sucker for their Bahama Mama drink.

  • Nachos!

Cheesecake Factory

Around the corner from the convention center where WordCamp Seattle was, there was a Cheesecake Factory. I rarely go, mostly due to the fact that it is overkill on calories, but since I pretty much was running on no food until lunch time, this ended up my only meal of the day… and it was delish!

  • Avocado Eggrols
  • Shrimp with Angel hair pasta
  • Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake

Poke

I hadn’t heard about Poke before. I thought it was like poking a person, but there’s food called Poke and it’s served in bowls. The ingredients to choose from are pretty healthy, but mostly raw. For me, it’s like sushi in a bowl.

Since I love sushi, and the ocean was not even a block away, I went to a place called Poke Lovers.

Poke bowl – Crab, cucumber, tuna, salmon, spicy mayo, edamame, sushi rice, chives, and masago (fish eggs.)
