Cabo Wabo Cantina is a Mexican style restaurant, in Las Vegas, owned by the rock singer Sammy Hagar. Yeah, the same guy who sings “I Can’t Drive 55.” While in Las Vegas, I got to visit and eat there.
Frankly, my expectation of the Cabo Wabo Cantina was that I wanted tacos, but because I knew it was Vegas, and owned by a rock singer, I probably was going to be disappointed in what I chose. I used to live in San Antonio, Texas, and I have to say, Mexican or Tex Mex is the best there… so I’m kinda of a Mexican and Tex Mex food snob.
Why my friend, Pollyana Brito (she runs a site called Polly Cast) and I got were a surprise. These tacos were the real thing! I think, even a little healthier than what I expected too!
Aside from the food, I tried their Bahama Mama drink. It’s something I usually order at other places, as a standard to compare. Plus I like fruity alcoholic drinks! I was almost expecting something elaborate, but this drink was delivered in a humble glass, but tasted great! It wasn’t the overly sweet version I’m used to being served at other places.
The decor of the place was also really cool too. Of course, being a place owned by Sammy Hagar, it was decorated with pictures of the rockstar, some of his awards, pictures, and more.
I definitely recommend this place, especially if you’re on the Vegas strip, and it happens to be a Tuesday… because come on, you gotta have a Taco Tuesday! The pricing for the food was actually decent too. I didn’t feel like I walked away hungry, so that was a plus too.
