A December Frenzy

December 1, 2006 by Nile Leave a Comment

Angel’s birthday is this weekend. About a dozen parents confirmed that they will be bringing their children to Chuck E. Cheeses in Fairview Heights on Saturday. I think it is really cool and Angel is very aware that his birthday is near. Can you believe it? He can write his name and he is proficient in numbers and letters! He is also very artistically inclined. I believe a couple months I had scanned and presented his flower drawing. Well, he is pretty good at drawing Spongebob Squarepants. He also has this characters that is simple that he has called ‘Ha

sh’ (not sure why he calls it that.) On one side of the page you can see Hash’s front and on the back side of the paper, Angel conveniently drew Hash his own back pack. How kawaii is that!!!

Someone asked if I was still designing layouts for money. I always am, but I believe I will be changing my design site, domain name and style. I do charge $20 to $40 a layout, as they do take time. There have never been any complaints from past clients about it. As for the person who asked, thank you for asking.

Anyway, as of site news, I did fix the broken links and images in the Downloadable Smilies page. Did anyone notice at the bottom of of the page and to the left that Blondish.net (at least this skin so far) is XHTML 1.0 (Transitional)? Well, I am happy to have gotten off my fat butt and did that. I am sure Jem will be breathing happier.

I still have a lot of tweaking here and there, as well as some additions. I am not really one for getting rid of things on my site as other webmasters tend to do. I think it is nice to see some of the older stuff and see how a person’s site has progressed. I have taken some dead links down and I have yet to fix and update my pictures. Sheesh, I have not been a tidy webmistress. :sheepish:

Oh, I have two special interest sites that caught my eye this past week. One is a simple website that is called Japanese Word of the Day. Since I am studying some Japanese, I thought it was really neat. Another site is Hey Nounce. It seems to be a bit of a fad, but not harmful. The site professes to help sites grow by helping them get the traffic. It seems to be new and still have some kinks, but hopefully with more webmaster dedication, it might prove to be a great idea.

Okay, onto something more holiday style… :snowflake: :gift:

If you would like to exchange Christmas Cards with me, leave a message in my blog or email me nile AT blondish . net . I really love to exchange and have gone out and bought cards I thought were simple yet cute.

Also, I am still looking for more link exchanges. I believe there is never a limit to how many a webmaster can have, and in the end it is great for all. I believe a lot of people have a lot of misconceptions on how rankings in Google Page Rank and Alexa work. Some of it has to do with who you link to and how many you are linking. However, think about this, if a person visits a site you link exchange with and clicks on your link, it brings in traffic, another good thing. I do visit those I link exchange with (though not as much as I would like) and that helps with their traffic as well. There are several other factors that do tie in with ranking as well. Do a search and I know you will find how others did it. Also, read both Google and Alexa to help guide you if you want to learn more.

Sunday Driving?

November 13, 2006 by Nile Leave a Comment

I had to go to the dentist early last week for a deep cleaning. 😡 A deep cleaning entails that they have to numb your mouth with anesthesia and then they take a scraping tool to scrape between the gum and the tooth. Although the lady asked if I felt anything, I told her I was fine and just to get it done. It hurt! 😯 After the anesthesia wore off, it was worse, feeling like my teeth had been re-arranged. I will say that the upside is that my teeth feel a heck of a lot cleaner than they have in ages. I still have to go back in December to do my yearly cleaning and a follow-up. The follow-up will involve the same procedure… minus the anesthesia.

Shinju, my novel is coming along well. I reached 20,000 yesterday, so I am kind of behind on my goal. I hope by my next blogging I will have 35,000 to 40,000 and will have posted it hear at Blondish… or my newly acquired side domain, Aitoshii.net (aitoshii means lovely in Japanese.)

I bought some invitations for my sons birthday, which is on December 3rd. They are so cute and look exacting like large movie tickets. We plan on having his party at Chuck E. Cheeses in Fairview Heights. It will cost almost $10 a kid, but it is worth it. My father actually wants to help contribute on the cost, but I am not sure if I want to accept it. I know he is just doing what a grandfather should; spoiling his grandson. However, I know Luis is a bit prideful when help involves money. 🙄

On further note with Luis, he decided that he was going to restrict me from using our 2002 Impala based on the results from a contraption that Progressive insurance gave us to install. The procedure was on a volunteer basis. I am not sure what the big deal is at all. I do speed, but I have not gotten a ticket in 6 years. My driving by myself is no different from when he and I are the only ones in the car. I do drive slower when our son is with us, but I am not sure why he should be surprised at the results. It just goes to prove another angle of his masculine idiocy.

Busy is a 4-Letter Vicious Cycle

November 6, 2006 by Nile Leave a Comment

I have written over 10,000 words towards my 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo. I have been reading a lot on the Tokugawa period aka Edo Period, which is the time frame that the novel is set in. I will do a few more edits and then post it here on the site as I go.

This weekend was busy for me, especially offline. I took most of the weekend to relax. I find myself wishing that I did do more work to the site, but I really also need time for myself. I bought myself a new outfit. Funny though, my favourite colour is blue, but I keep purchasing black, white, and pink. I bought some black slacks, a black plunging neckline sweater, and a pink camisol to go underneath (trust me, I would not be one to expose my boobs to the world.) I topped it off with a 60″ beaded necklace. The beads look like pearls and I was happy how the outfit turned out. I am making it a rule for myself to buy 1 outfit a month to add to my professional collection. I truly do not have enough clothing for it as my current job with Walgreens Distribution is not a job I would ever wear nice cloths too. Handling cases out of a trailer is dirty work.

Oh, Pixelled Listings is open again and in its new domain. I keep forgetting to mention about it. So, those who hosted under me at Fan-dom.org or Pixelled.com MUST join it as soon as possible.

Still seeking link exchanges. I briefly looked at my link exchanges and some of the sites are no longer available, so that is yet another page I have to tackle in the revamping of my site.
